Abu was the principal organizer of the Village Bicycle Project workshop at Konjiahi. Konjiahi is a village in the remote furthest NW corner of Ghana where no English is spoken, 7 miles from the main town of Wa. He spent countless hours going from house to house to organize the 100 people who received the the bicycles. He also organized the food and lodging and other logistical details for the workshop.
Abu works for the UNICEF Child Protection Team, so he goes to Wa for meetings and workshops sometimes once or twice a week. Before he got this bicycle he used an old, worn out bicycle that was a lot of work for him to ride. He is 61 years old and his new bicycle makes the trip to Wa much easier for him. He also takes his bicycle to his farm which is about a mile from his house. He said his is not going to share his bicycle with careless people who won’t take care of it so that it lasts for a long time!
Thanks, Brian and Robin, for making life better for Abu.
