Umori is from the village Dupari, located in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Most people in Dupari are farmers who grow yams, corn, peanuts, millett and sorghum, and they take their produce to Bulenga for sale. The closest town is Bulenga, which is 3 miles away. Dupari only has a primary school, but Bulenga has a Junior High School and a clinic. There is no public transportation between Bulenga and Dupari, so most people walk. Umori is a student at the Junior High School in Bulenga.
Thanks to your donation, he received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it! Umori lives a mile away from school and having a bike will save Umori many hours walking each week. He rides the bike to and from school, and says he will now be able to get to school every day, arrive on time, and have more time for homework! Umori will also ride the bike to the family farm, about three miles away, in order to help his family.
Umori is very thankful for your donation, Susan! Thank you for your support of Village Bicycle Project!
