Ibrahim is a farmer in Dupari, a village in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Most people in Dupari are farmers who grow yams, corn, peanuts, millett and sorghum. They take their produce to Bulenga, the closest town located about five kilometers away, and sometimes Wa for sale. Bulenga is 30 km from Wa (the Upper West’s major city) down a very poor dirt road. It normally takes two hours by car to travel the 30 km from Wa to Bulenga. As there is no public transportation from Bulenga to Dupari, most people walk.
Ibrahim says, “I will use the bike to ride to my farm which is about 2 -3 kms away. I walk that distance every single day and it makes me very tired. I will use the time I save by riding my bike to work on the farm and make more money for me and my family.”
Thanks so much, Mark, for supporting Ibrahim and his family by donating a bike! Thank you for your support of Village Bicycle Project!
