Ali Yussif is a student from the village Dupari, located in the Upper West Region of Ghana. His family and most people in Dupari are farmers and take their produce to Bulenga for sale, 5 km away. There is no public transportation between Bulenga and Dupari, so most people walk.
Ali is a student who travels also about 5km to get to school in Bulenga. Thanks to your donation, Ali received a bicycle and learned how to take care of it! Sometimes when he walks, it is easy to be late and the teachers punish students for lateness. He says, “Walking to school makes me too late. The teachers punish me. The bicycle will be fine for me. I will not be late, because I will go faster!”
Now Ali can travel faster to and from school. Owning a bike gives him more time to study, will increase his attendance at school, and gives him time to help on the family farm. Life with a bicycle will be much easier!
Ali is very thankful for your donation, Joan! Thank you for your support of Village Bicycle Project!
