Abramah is a farmer from the village Dupari, located in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Most people in Dupari are farmers who grow yams, corn, peanuts, millet and sorghum, and they take their produce to Bulenga for sale, 3 miles away from Dupari and to Chaggo, 3 miles in the other direction from Dupari. There is no public transportation between Bulenga or Chaggo and Dupari, so most people walk.
Thanks to your donation, Abramah received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it. His farm is almost 3 miles outside of Dupari and without a bicycle he walked this distance every day. Getting his produce to market was a lot of work before he had a bicycle. He said “My farm is 3 miles outside of Dupari and it takes me almost an hour to walk, or even longer if I have a heavy load to carry. The sun is very hot and it is very tiring!” Owning a bike will make life for Abramah much easier, more productive and increase his income.
Abramah is very thankful for your donation, Vikas! Thank you for your support of Village Bicycle Project!
