Yunus is a farmer from the village Dupari, located in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Most people in Dupari are farmers who grow yams, corn, peanuts, millet and sorghum. They take their produce to Bulenga and Chaggo for sale, both of which are 3 miles away from Dupari in opposite directions. There is no public transportation between Dupari and Bulenga or Chaggo, so like most people, Yunus walks.
Thanks to your donation, Yunus received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it. He usually walks the three miles to and from his farm six days per week, but now that he can ride his bike it will be much easier and faster for him. He can also carry heavy loads more easily and he will not be as tired after the journey. Yunus is excited to be able to fix small problems on his bicycle when they happen because this will save him money and make him more independent. Owning a bike will make life for Yunus much easier, more productive and increase his income.
Yunus is very thankful for your donation, Kyley! Thank you for your support of Village Bicycle Project!
