Dear Claire,
Adongo lives in Kandiga, a village in rural northern Ghana. She is a farmer and makes shea butter to sell in the market. Thanks to your donation, Adongo received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it.
Adongo uses her bike to go to the larger towns in her area, which are between 5 and 11 miles away! Owning a bike allows Adongo to ride to town instead of paying private transport fees, which are quite expensive in Ghana, as there is no public transportation. In the larger town she is able to buy more Shea nuts than she could carry when walking, which gives her the ability to earn more money. Adongo says, “The bike lets me buy more nuts, sell more butter and earn more money for school fees for my children. This bike will make my life much easier!”
Adongo is very thankful for your donation, Claire! Thanks for your support of the Village Bicycle Project!
