Amakiyima is thrilled to ride her bike instead of walking long distances in the hot sun!

Dear Lynda E.,

Amakiyima lives in Kandiga, a village in rural northern Ghana. She is a farmer and a shea butter merchant. Thanks to your donation, Amakiyima received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it.

Amakiyima uses her bike to go to the larger market towns in her area, which are between 5 and 11 miles away! Using the bike she can carry four times as many nuts used to make Shea butter, which will increase her production and sales. Owning a bike allows Amakiyima to ride to town instead walking or paying private transport fees, which are quite expensive in Ghana because there is no public transportation. Riding a bike will save their family time and money, and increase their productivity.

Amakiyima is very thankful for your donation, Lynda! Thanks for your support of the Village Bicycle Project!
