Thank you for your support of the VBP bicycle repair workshop in Buli, Ghana! Buli is a remote village in the furthest NW corner of Ghana where no English is spoken, miles from a main road. We had 20 female participants who were admitted to our workshop after about a year on a waiting list. In the workshop, the women learned to change a flat tire, oil the chain, make minor adjustments, and to keep their bikes in working order. Each woman left the workshop with a bike, which will make a big difference in their lives.
Most people in Africa walk everywhere they go, as very few people own cars. Most of our participants walk miles every day to visit their farm. Owning a bike allows them to get to their farm more quickly, giving them more time to harvest the food they need. Now they have more time to care for their families, do their school work, and overall enables their families to become more successful.
These bikes change the lives of their owners, and make life better for everyone else in the village.
Katie, thank you so much for your generous donation!

Your donation has benefited Moleh from Atiavi, Ghana. Before your donation, Moleh walked 3 miles to and from school everyday. Now he uses the bike to get to school and to travel around his village. This bicycle has helped him out tremendously!
A bike has benefited Moleh in so many ways. He now gets to school less tired, has more time to work on homework, and has time to help his family with chores!
Sara, thanks so much for your kind donation!

This girl from the Panlap Secondary School in Sierra Leone will use her bicycle for absolutely everything, from getting to school, running errands for the family and going to the market.
Girls spend most of their time at home taking care of the house, family members and helping to get food on the table. Spending less time getting to and from school also gives girls more energy to keep up their studies and go further in their education.
Thanks, Erik, for your support!

Godsway is a student at the local Senior Secondary school in Northen Ghana. She will use the bike you provided to go to school which is about 1½ miles away. She used to have to walk this distance daily.
Godsway will save money using her bike instead of taking a taxi to towns which are far away. At the Village Bicycle Project repair workshop she learned a lot about gears and brakes which she previously did not know anything about. Thanks so much for your support!
