Gifty participated in our Learning to Ride workshop. She was the star pupil and she spent the entire evening after the program practicing on her own. At about 10:00 she came by to ask us to clean up her bike before she went home to bed! The picture above was taken the following morning.
Thanks Judith for providing Gifty the opportunity to learn to ride her bike safely!

Aku loves to ride her bike! She uses it to go to Sege, a town about 15 miles from where she lives. In Sege she visits her friends, gets clothes mended and buys things she can’t get in her village. She also carries seedlings and tools to the farm with her bike and she carries produce back from her farm. Before she got the bike, she had to carry everything on her head while she walked and she finds the bike to be much easier. She likes to put her baby in the front basket so that she can keep an eye on him while she’s riding.
Thank you Judith for changing Aku’s life!

Kornu has given his Village Bicycle Project bike to his younger sister (pictured). She uses it to commute from Liati to secondary school in Koloenu, about seven miles away. Without the bike, she would have to spend many hours waiting for public transportation or walking several miles to a main road where public transport is more readily available. Having a bicycle saves her money and time! Thank you Judith for keeping African girls in school!

Solomon, who lives in Adzumanikope, Ghana, helped organize the repair workshop recently held in his village by Village Bicycle Project. Solomon also keeps a set of tools that he lets anyone from the community use. He likes to help people fix their bikes when they come to him to use the tools. Thank you Anne, Josh, Josiah and Isaiah for sharing the gift of cycling with Solomon and his community.

Esther, who lives in Adzumanikope, Ghana, told us that she learned how to do many things at the workshop where she received her bike, including how to use shifters, fix flat tires, oil her chain and put her chain back on when it falls off. She uses her bike to take food to her aging father twice a day. He lives about a 20 minute walk away and so she saves time by using her bike. She also shares her bike with her uncle and mom. Her mom uses the bike to carry seedlings to their farm (about 15 minutes away) and to bring produce back. Her uncle uses it to go to church. Thank you David for making Esther’s life easier!
