Isaac loves to ride instead of walk!
posted November 14, 2011

Isaac is from Bodaa, Ghana, on the western boarder next to Cote D’Ivoire. Most people in this town of about 1000 people are farmers, and the soil is fairly good there. People in Bodaa walk most places they go, and waste valuable time getting places they need to go. Thanks to your donation, Isaac received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it.
Isaac is a 23 year old cashew farmer. He mostly uses the bicycle to go to his farm, about 4 km from Bodaa, but he also shares it with his brother who goes to a town called Adensu, about 8 km away, to buy farming products and tools. Isaac and his brother are so happy they will not have to walk everywhere they go! Owning a bike saves energy for Isaac and his brother, and makes life a lot more productive!
Isaac is very thankful for your donation, Heather! Thanks for your support of the Village Bicycle Project!

Daniel loves riding instead of walking and carrying heavy loads!
posted November 8, 2011

Daniel Kudjoe is from Princesstown, Ghana, at the end of a wretched gravel road 18 km. from the main coastal highway. The road is so bad that taxis won’t go there unless you pay 10 times the standard rate. For several weeks during the rainy season the road is cut off, and travelers must wade through thigh deep mud to transfer from a landlocked car to another car bound for the outside world. The four or five vehicle round trips each day are made by minibuses contracted by the town to make the trip. The lack of transportation means people walk most places they need to go. Thanks to your donation, Daniel received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it.
Daniel is 18 years old and his family farm is four miles from his home. His bike will make it much easier to get to the farm where he grows cassava, pineapple, and plantain. The surplus produce he sells at Princesstown market. He will buy a carrier to make it easier to carry produce from the farm. Without a bike, he carried his produce on his back while walking. Owning a bike saves time and energy for Daniel, and makes life a lot more productive.
Daniel is very thankful for your donation, Howard! Thanks for your support of the Village Bicycle Project!
