Dowda is a student from Dupari, a village located in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Most people in Dupari are farmers who grow yams, corn, peanuts, millett and sorghum. They take their products to Bulenga, 3 miles away, to sell them on the market. There is no public transportation between Bulenga and Dupari, and therefore most people walk the distance between the two villages.
Thanks to your donation, Dowda received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it. Dowda lives almost two miles from Dupari School. In addition to going to school, Dowda says, “I can also use the bike to go to farm. It takes 2 hours to get to our farm when walking, but the bicycle will help me get there very quickly.” Owning a bike will save Dowda hours every week, giving him time to succeed in school and help his family.
Dowda is very thankful for your donation, Jane! Thank you for your support of Village Bicycle Project!
