Obeng Sate is from Bodaa, Ghana, on the western boarder next to Cote D’Ivoire. Most people in this town of about 1000 people are farmers, and the soil is fairly good there. People in Bodaa walk most places they go, and waste valuable time getting around.
Obeng is a cashew farmer, and thanks to your donation, he received a bicycle and learned how to care for it. Obeng will use his bicycle to go to the farm, about 3 km away from his home. Obeng is 55 years old and has been walking the 6km round trip several times a week for most of his life. He is very happy to have more time and strength for farming when he rides his bike, and to be able to haul his tools and crops, too. He will share his bicycle with his wife and children who will also go to the farm with it, as well as ride to the market and other social destinations. Owning a bike saves time and energy for Obeng and his family, and makes life a lot more productive!
Obeng is very thankful for your donation, Tom! Thanks for your support of the Village Bicycle Project!
