Insah uses his bike to get to his farm and transport his products to the market

Insah is from the village Dupari, located in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Insah is a farmer, and like most people in Dupari grows yams, corn, peanuts, millett and sorghum. He takes the products from his farm to the market in Bulega which is three miles away. There is no public transportation between Bulenga and Dupari. Most people walk the distance between the two villages, often with heavy loads.
Thanks to your donation, Insah received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it. He said, “I will use my bicycle to go to my farm. It takes 1 hour to walk to my farm. I can now go to the farm quicker and more often and produce more food. I will be able to carry yams, other vegetables, and tools on my bicycle. This makes more money for me and my family.”

Dowda rides his new bicycle 2 miles to school and from there to the family farm

Dowda is a student from Dupari, a village located in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Most people in Dupari are farmers who grow yams, corn, peanuts, millett and sorghum. They take their products to Bulenga, 3 miles away, to sell them on the market. There is no public transportation between Bulenga and Dupari, and therefore most people walk the distance between the two villages.
Thanks to your donation, Dowda received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it. Dowda lives almost two miles from Dupari School. In addition to going to school, Dowda says, “I can also use the bike to go to farm. It takes 2 hours to get to our farm when walking, but the bicycle will help me get there very quickly.” Owning a bike will save Dowda hours every week, giving him time to succeed in school and help his family.

Wahabu rides his new bike three miles to school!

Thanks to your donation, Wahabu received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it. Wahabu is a student at the St. Augustine School at Bulenga, and will use his bike to get to school. “It is a one hour walk each way from Dupari. The walk makes me very tired. I will use the bike all throughout the week to go from home to the farm or to my school or friends. It makes life now much better.”

Numbo is excited to ride his bicycle to school

Numbo is a 12 years old student who lives near the village of Dupari, in the Upper West Region of Ghana. His family and most people in Dupari are farmers. They take the products from their farm to the market in Bulenga, three miles away. There is no public transportation between Bulenga and Dupari, and therefore most people walk.
Numbo is a student who travels about 1.5 km to get to school in Dupari. Thanks to your donation, Numbo received a bicycle and learned how to take care of it! He will share the bicycle with his brothers and sisters because they helped him buy the bicycle. He is very excited about his new bicycle and says, “The bicycle makes me do everything FAST!” Now Numbo can travel faster to and from school, and avoid arriving late. Owning a bike gives him more time to study, will increase his attendance at school, and gives him time to help on the family farm. Life with a bicycle will be much easier!

Gaataa smiles in Ghana with her bike from Kenneth!

Gaataa lives in Dupari, in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Her village only has an elementary school.
She walks every day to Bulenga, a town nearby that has a Junior High School and a clinic.
Now, Kenneth, thanks to your donation, Gaataa is able to bike to school!
When Gaataa received the bike you donated, she said “It is three kilometers from my home to school. I will also use my bicycle to go to farm and many other things. I get tired from walking so much but now the bicycle will keep me from getting so tired.”
Most people in Dupari are farmers who grow yams, corn, peanuts, millett and sorghum, and they take their produce to Bulenga for sale.

Ahamad says he’ll never be late for school again!

Ahamad is from the village Dupari, in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Ahamad is a student, and thanks to your donation, received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it!
Ahamad will use his bicycle to go to school in Dupari. He says that the bicycle “will help me get to school early. School starts at 7:00 am exactly, but if you do not have a bicycle you must walk and arrive at 9:00 am. I now know I will be on time exactly and not miss school.” Owning a bike will get Ahamad to school on time, and give him more time to do his school work as well as help his family on their farm!

Hamza uses his bike to get to school on time.

Hamza is from the village Dupari, in the Upper West Region of Ghana. The closest town is Bulenga, located about five kilometers away. Dupari only has a primary school, and Bulenga has a Junior High School and a clinic. Hamza goes to school to Bulenga, but as there is no public transportation between Bulenga and Dupari, he must walk to school.
Thanks to your donation, Rhodes, Hamza received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it! Hamza uses his bicycle everyday to ride the five kilometers to Bulenga in order to attend school. He says, “The long walk makes me very tired. I was always late getting to school, but now when I ride my bike I will be on time.” Hamza will also ride the bike to the market. At the Bulenga market he can buy things that are not easily available in Dupari. Owning a bike makes life easier, saves time and money, and will help Hamza succeed in school!

Ibrahim will use his new bike to grow more crops and increase his imcome

Ibrahim is a farmer in Dupari, a village in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Most people in Dupari are farmers who grow yams, corn, peanuts, millett and sorghum. They take their produce to Bulenga, the closest town located about five kilometers away, and sometimes Wa for sale. Bulenga is 30 km from Wa (the Upper West’s major city) down a very poor dirt road. It normally takes two hours by car to travel the 30 km from Wa to Bulenga. As there is no public transportation from Bulenga to Dupari, most people walk.
Ibrahim says, “I will use the bike to ride to my farm which is about 2 -3 kms away. I walk that distance every single day and it makes me very tired. I will use the time I save by riding my bike to work on the farm and make more money for me and my family.”

Iddiris used to walk an hour and a half each way to school!

Iddiris is from the village of Dupari, in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Most families are farmers, and the children help with the farming and many household chores. The closest town is Bulenga, which is about 5 kilometers away. Dupari only has a primary school, while Bulenga has an upper school and a clinic. Iddiris is a student in Bulenga. As there is no public transportation between Bulenga and Dupari most people walk.
Mark, thanks to your donation Iddiris received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it! Having a bike will save him many hours walking each week. “I will use my bicycle to go to school. It takes one and a half hours to walk there, but only 20 minutes to ride my bike. I will go to farm with the extra time the bicycle gives me. I can now go anywhere I like to go easily.”

Iddrisu the teacher now rides to school!

Iddrisu is from the town of Bulanga, in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Iddrisu is a teacher in the village of Dupari, located about three miles away. There is no public transportation between Bulenga and Dupari, meaning that without a bicycle Iddrisu had to walk from Bulenga everyday to work.
