Mahama rides his bike 3 miles to school

Mahama is a student from Dupari, a village located in the Upper West Region of Ghana. His family and most people in Dupari are farmers who grow yams, corn, peanuts, millett and sorghum. Mahama goes to school in Chaggo which is about 3 miles from Dupari. He leaves to go to school at 6:00 am and comes home at 3:30 pm.
Thanks to your donation, Mahama received a bicycle and learned how to take care of it! Now he can get faster to school. Owning a bike gives him more time to study, will increase his attendance at school, and gives him time to help on the family farm. Life with a bicycle will be much easier!

Papa will use his bike to carry the harvest from his fields to the market

Papa is a farmer from Dupari, a village located in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Most people in Dupari are farmers who grow yams, corn, peanuts, millett and sorghum. They take their products to the market in the town of Bulenga, 3 miles from Dupari. There is no public transportation between Bulenga and Dupari. Most people walk from the village to the market in town and back, often with heavy loads.
Thanks to your donation, Papa received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it. He says, “I will use the bicycle to visit friends or go to market. The market is in Bulenga, a very long walk away. I will use my bicycle to take yams on my bicycle to the market. Having a bicycle is a very, very fine thing!” Owning a bike will make Papa’s life easier, more productive and give him more time for everything.

Lompo rides his new bicycle to his fields and to the market

Lompo is a farmer from the village Dupari, located in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Most people in Dupari are farmers who grow yams, corn, peanuts, millett and sorghum. The farmers take their products to the market in Bulenga, which is three miles from Dupari. There is no public transportation between Bulenga and Dupari. Most people walkfrom the village to the town, often with heavy loads.
Thanks to your donation, Lompo received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it. He says, “I will travel to my farm from Dupari. It is 10 miles round trip. Yeah! I get tired too much! The bicycle will make me not so tired. I am very, very happy. Lamatu carries her crops to the market on her new bike!

Lamatu is a farmer from Dupari, a village located in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Most people in Dupari are farmers who grow yams, corn, peanuts, millett and sorghum. The farmers bring their products to the town of Bulenga, which is three miles from Dupari, to sell them on the market. There is no public transportation between Bulenga and Dupari. Most people walk from Dupari to Bulenga and back. Often they carry heavy loads.
Thanks to your donation, Lamatu received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it. She says, “I want to ride my bicycle to go to my farm and then to take crops to my house and to the market.” Her farmland is 4 km from her house. It takes her almost an hour to walk each way and she can only carry a few products home from the fields. Owning a bike will make Lamatu’s life easier, more productive and give her more time to care for her family.

Mahama will use his bike to complete his work faster, earn more money and go to night school

Mahama is from Dupari, a village located in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Most people in Dupari are farmers who grow yams, corn, peanuts, millett and sorghum. They take their products to the town of Bulenga to sell them on the market. There is no public transportation between Bulenga and Dupari, and therefore most people walk the three miles from the village to the town, often with heavy loads.
Thanks to your donation, Mahama received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it. Mahama grows yams to sell. He has to transport them three miles over rough terrain and is excited to use his bicycle to transport them more quickly. He says, “I will come back earlier from the farm, and earn more money. And now I can go to night school, which is an English literacy class.”

Azie is a pastor and teacher who commutes between several communities

Azie is from the town of Bulenga, in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Azie is a teacher in the village of Dupari, about 3 miles away. He is also a pastor and travels to three different communities in the area to minister. Due to the lack of public transportation between the communities, most people walk to get where they need to go.
Thanks to your donation, Azie received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it. Without a bicycle Azie has to walk an hour from Bulenga to the school where he is teaching. With his bicycle Azie can get there much faster and meet with more people in his role as a pastor. Life with a bicycle will be much easier!

Teacher Mwengu has time to teach extra classes as he gets to school much faster

Mwengu is from the town of Bulenga, in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Mwengu is a teacher in the village of Dupari, about 3 miles away. There is no public transportation between Bulenga and Dupari, so most people walk where they need to go.
Thanks to your donation, Mwengu received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it. Without a bicycle Mwengu had to walk an hour from Bulenga to work, but now that he has a bicycle he can get there faster. He says with the bicycle he now can get to school so fast that he can teach extra classes. His way home after school also takes less time, giving him more time and energy for other things.

Abdulai gets to school faster and has more time to help on the family farm

Abdulai is a student from outside the village of Dupari, located in the Upper West Region of Ghana. There is no public transportation to Dupari from the main town, so most people walk where they need to go.
Thanks to your donation, Abdulai received a bicycle and was taught how to take care of it. Abdulai will use his new bicycle to get to the school in Dupari. Normally he says he spends two hours walking each day. He says, “I will also ride the bike to go to our farm or to extra classes. If I don’t have time to work on my family’s farm I cannot get money to pay my school fees. Owning this bike will make my work easier and faster.” This bike will help Abdulai stay in school.

She says, “I live in Dupari, which is 3 miles away and I walk to school everyday. Walking everyday makes me tired. He says the bicycle will give him more time to correct the work of his students and prepare classes and it will make his life much easier.
